Making Books Accessible for Visually Impaired People
Ongoing Project
TThe online library project which is created by Boğaziçi University Technology and Education Center for the Visually Impaired People (Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Görme Engelliler Teknoloji ve Eğitim Merkezi – GETEM) aims to provide accessible information to visually impaired people.
This project helps not only visually impaired persons around 400 thousand in Turkey but also helps people who cannot benefit from the resources due to their other types of obstacles.
ENKA Volunteers are taking role in this project, they provide access to visually impaired people by vocalizing the selected books through the mobile application and adding them to the library’s archive. The project started on May 2019 and it is still ongoing.
