ENKA is active in various sectors, including engineering and construction, energy, real estate and trading, in many different regions of the world. ENKA is committed to support sustainable development in all of its operations.

The approach which ENKA has adopted to corporate sustainability is built on an awareness of its economic, environmental and social responsibilities to all its internal and external stakeholders. Accordingly, ENKA conducted an intensive dialogue with stakeholders both within and outside its own organization in 2017 in order to develop its sustainability strategy. This work was carried out by the ENKA Sustainability Committee, which meets regularly and includes representatives of ENKA’s various operations and departments. Leadership was provided by ENKA’s President and Chairman of the Executive Committee, who sponsored the Sustainability Committee.

ENKA’s sustainability strategy, drawn up with ENKA’s fields of influence and sustainable development goals in mind, is built on the following four foundations:

ENKA is a Constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series

FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that ENKA Insaat has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

Connection between ENKA’s Sustainability Strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Agenda, were born at the United Nations Sustainable Development Conference held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 and came into force in January 2016. The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the 167 sub-targets that were identified form a set of aims that are directed towards the urgent environmental, political and economic problems faced by the world.

ENKA intends to contribute to the UN Global Agenda through its sustainability strategy, the decisions it takes and the operations it carries out.
