Upon observing the construction activities of the local subcontractor (Al Yamama) for the test piles of Samawa Combined Cycle Power Plant Project, it became clear that the required quality standards were not followed, resulting in excessive (above anticipated values) increase in concrete loss during pile production. Therefore, ENKA’s Corporate Engineering and Site Construction Teams took the necessary measures for performance improvement.
In this context, as the company lacked the proficiency required for slurry displacement drilling, the casing method was adopted instead. Besides, the equipment which did not confirm to standards were re-conditioned accordingly. Meanwhile, 1225 man hours of training in various subjects was provided for Al-Yamama personnel.
By means of above mentioned efforts of our teams and the corporation of the local subcontractor, the construction quality of the piles are substantially improved by decreasing the excess concrete volume to the satisfactory limits, as well as significant contribution were made in improvement of the local Al-Yamama company’s processes and personnel proficiencies.
