In line with our sustainability strategy, ENKA carries out activities to protect the cultural heritage of our country. In this context, ENKA is financially supporting the conservation and restoration of the North Building of the Sebasteion temple complex in the ancient city of Aphrodisias, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sebasteion complex consists of a gateway, a temple, and the North and South Buildings framing the ceremonial path between the two. In the mid-4th century AD, most of the North Building collapsed. The work to be carried out will include the restoration of the rest of the building more accurately and with modern materials, the use of the available columns, architraves and cornices as much as possible, 3D digital reconstructions and new panels to convey the reliefs in the North Building to the visitor.
With this contribution to the excavations of Aphrodisias, which have been supported by the Geyre Foundation since 1987, we aim to contribute to the revitalization of the ancient city of Aphrodisias and its preservation for future generations.
