As mobilization to the site progresses for the Central Processing Facility of the Associated Gas Upstream Project Phase 2 (AGUP2)* in Basra, Iraq, as part of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) operated by TotalEnergies, ENKA’s project team has initiated a range of environmental and social initiatives.
To mark World Environment Day on June 5, a site-wide toolbox meeting was held to raise awareness of key environmental and social issues, including environmental protection, waste management, biodiversity conservation, wildlife procedures, respect for local communities, employee responsibilities, the grievance mechanism, and off-site conduct. Following the session, project management and site personnel participated in an environmental cleanup activity to promote environmental stewardship, biodiversity conservation, and a clean, safe workplace.
As part of its community engagement efforts, the project team, together with its client, visited Basra Specialized Children’s Hospital to support children undergoing treatment in the Oncology Department and contribute to patient well-being and healthcare services. During the visit, various gifts and medical supplies were presented to the hospital administration and healthcare staff in support of patient care services, treatment processes, and the valuable work carried out by medical personnel. In addition, coloring sets and children’s hats were distributed to young patients to help boost their morale, motivation, and overall well-being.
These initiatives reflect ENKA’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community well-being, alongside the sustainable execution of the project.
