ENKA signed contracts with Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri A.Ş. (TÜPRAŞ) on April 24th, 2024 for the Propylene Splitter Unit Project at the İzmit and İzmir Refineries. ENKA’s scope of work includes detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up, as well as the necessary additions and modifications to the existing electrical facilities, utilities, and other connections to and from the existing refinery required for integration of the new facility with the existing refinery facilities.
At the Tüpraş Refineries in İzmit and İzmir, the project scope comprises the installation of new Propylene Recovery (Splitter) Units (PRUs) located downstream of the existing Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) Process Units, enabling the direct marketing of propylene to the open market. The PRUs are designed to produce polymer-grade propylene from the propane/propylene stream generated by the FCC Units.
At the İzmit Refinery, the scope also includes a new spherical storage tank with a capacity of 4,950 m³, and the PRU will be designed for a feed capacity of 800 m³/day from the FCC Unit. At the İzmir Refinery, the PRU will be designed for a feed capacity of 500 m³/day, also supplied from the FCC Unit.
