In September 2021, ENKA signed a contract with Arabelle Services Ltd. for the prefabrication and erection of piping systems for the conventional power islands of 2 units, where each unit will be producing 1,600 MW power. In July 2024, ENKA entered into an additional contract for the verification of design, procurement of materials, and installation of thermal insulation for both piping and equipment in the turbine hall.
The prefabrication of HP spools and supports was completed in December 2024. The prefabrication of Unit 1 & Unit 2 IP/LP piping has reached to 59% and overall support fabrication is 35% complete.
Preassembly works at the site commenced in May 2025, and permanent works started in June 2025. The number of employees is expected to reach 400 during the peak working period.
The construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C will provide zero-carbon electricity and help secure a diverse and balanced energy supply for the United Kingdom. The power plant is projected to meet 7% of the United Kingdom’s energy demand.
