As ENKA, we believe in the power of industry-university collaboration and continue to contribute in this field. Accordingly, ENKA Design Center has initiated an important collaboration with the Chemical Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Process Systems Design Team of the ENKA Design Center has participated as mentors in the courses “Chemical Engineering Design I” and “Chemical Engineering Design II” and sponsored the project titled “Retrofitting a Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant for Carbon Capture and Sequestration.”
In this project, five senior students have benefited from the ongoing work of the ENKA Design Center and the engineering activities carried out within the scope of the Kırklareli Combined Cycle Power Plant Design Project. They conducted an in-depth analysis of alternatives for the Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) process. The students prioritized the safety of the facility and operators, identified the most cost-effective method for the process, and developed the CCS process design accordingly.
This project is of great importance in contributing to Türkiye’s goals of reducing carbon emissions and optimizing carbon capture technologies.
