On January 15th, 2025, ENKA UK Construction Ltd., a subsidiary of ENKA İnşaat ve Sanayi A.Ş., and Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen, signed a contract for the UK’s leading large-scale Low Carbon Hydrogen Production Plant (HPP1) at the Stanlow Refinery in the Ellesmere Port Area in North West England.
The plant, located at the heart of the HyNet industrial decarbonization cluster, is expected to be the nation’s first large-scale, low-carbon hydrogen production plant, and will have a production capacity of 350MWe and capture around 600,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
This represents a major milestone for the HPP1 project, for the UK hydrogen industry, the HyNet Cluster and for EET Hydrogen’s progress towards its goal of developing 4GW of low carbon hydrogen production. The hydrogen will be provided to industrial businesses across the North West of England to decarbonise their operations, protecting jobs and driving economic growth.
