The works within the scope of the Shotton Mill Project are currently being undertaken by ENKA in the UK for Shotton Mill Limited. Shotton Mill Limited, owned by Modern Karton/EREN Holding, one of the biggest producers of paper, cardboard, and corrugated packaging products in the sector, continues to make significant progress towards completion.
In Phase 1 of the project, a new containerboard manufacturing facility is being constructed, including a new paper mill building, warehouse and dispatch area, chemical building, combined heat and power (CHP) building, water treatment plant (WTP), effluent treatment plant (ETP), recycled fibre building (RCF), recovered paper building (RCP), and pipe bridges.
As of the end of August 2026, a substantial portion of the project has been completed. The remaining works are progressing at a sustained and productive pace to ensure timely completion. A total of 448 days and 642,000 person-hours were expended without any lost time incident (LTI).
As the project enters its advanced stages, ENKA continues to carry out the works within its scope at this landmark facility to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Once completed, Shotton Mill will represent one of the most significant industrial transformations in the UK in recent decades, strengthening the domestic circular economy, supporting the transition to cleaner energy, and creating hundreds of skilled jobs in North Wales.
