
Located at the Dee Estuary in Flintshire, North Wales, this project is being carried out for Shotton Mill Limited, owned by Modern Karton/EREN Holding, one of the largest producers of paper, cardboard, and corrugated packaging products in the sector.
The conversion project aims to transform the site from paper production to cardboard, corrugated packaging and tissue paper production. In Phase 1 of the project activities, a new cardboard factory is being constructed, including a new paper mill, warehouse and dispatch area, combined heat and power (CHP) building and effluent treatment plant (ETP).
Here are the key highlights of the progress achieved on the project:
- As of the end of September 2023, 338 days and approximately 200,000 person-hours were achieved without lost time incident.
- We conduct regular quality audits to ensure that all work activities align with the Project Quality Plan.
- We have achieved a significant progress rate of 75% in our engineering works.
- Subcontractors have been mobilized to the site for excavation, piling, pile breaking, reinforced concrete, and precast activities.
- The fabrication of steel structures has commenced.
- The facade and roof cladding package is awarded.
- Ongoing preparations are in place for bidding on architectural works, building MEP, process MEI, and tank works packages.
- Excavation works have made significant progress, standing at 95% completion.
- Pile driving works have achieved an impressive completion rate of 85%.
- The total volume of poured concrete now exceeds 10,500 m³.
