West Qurna-2, located near Basra, Iraq, is one of the world’s biggest onshore oilfields and the second largest undeveloped field in the world in terms of its hydrocarbon reserves. ENKA executed the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the 3 x 42 MW Simple Cycle Power Generation Plant and Power Distribution project awarded by LUKOIL for the development of this giant field during 2011-2014. The project was completed with 4 million person-hours without any lost time incident by achieving zero accident, which was a remarkable achievement under the challenging site conditions of Southern Iraq.
