Our 15-year-old young swimmer Merve Tuncel, who will represent our country at the Tokio Olympics, broke the World Junior Short Track Record with 15:45:29 minutes in 1500m freestyle in Türkiye Arena Interclub Junior and Open Aged Short Track Türkiye Swimming Championship – Young Individual Swimming Competitions, held in Istanbul.
We congratulate our athlete Merve Tuncel who broke the previous record of 15:54:69 minutes by Australian Chelsea Gubecka in 2013, with a magnificent degree, as well as her coach Gjon Shyti and the technical team. We wish her a great success in preparations for the Tokio Olympics.
We will continue to support our young athletes representing our country with ENKA Sports Club, which provided 22 out of 103 athletes in the Turkish delegation at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and similarly, 17 of the 114 athletes from Türkiye who took part in the London Olympics of 2012.
