
Corridor 8 (Tetovo – Gostivar – Bukojcani and Trebenista – Struga – Kjafasan Motorway section) is a key component of Pan-European Transport Corridor 8, connecting the Adriatic Sea and the Black Sea through Albania, North Macedonia and Bulgaria. As per project scope, Tetovo – Gostivar – Bukojcani and Trebenista – Struga – Kjafasan Motorway section will be built. Corridor 10d is a key component of Pan-European Transport Corridor 10, connecting Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Greece. In project scope, Prilep-Bitola section will be built.
34 bridges, 34 overpasses and 24 underpasses will be built.
Özger İnal, Executive Committee Member in charge of Infrastructure Projects at ENKA, stated that a significant amount of excavation, filling, slope protection, bridges, viaducts, overpasses, underpasses, and interchanges will be constructed within the scope of the project and added that with the construction of four main sections of 109 km, consisting of significant parts of Corridor 8 and Corridor 10, which are important transportation corridors of Europe, the economy of the region and the connection with neighbouring countries will be perfected in every field. Corridor 8 and Corridor 10d are connecting the Republic of North Macedonia with the regional infrastructure and ports in Albania, Bulgaria and Greece.
Construction of the motorway will start in 2023 and will be completed within 5 years under contract terms and conditions.
The Project features 7 new interchanges, significant amount of structures crossing highways, railways, Vardar and Black Drin river along the route.
Project scope also includes 34 bridges, 34 overpasses, 24 underpasses, over 21 million m3 excavation, over 17 million m3 earth fill, 620,000 m3 concrete, 2.2 million m3 subbase & subgrade, 1.1 million tons asphalt, over 600,000 m of anchors and 320 km guardrail.
ENKA and its Joint Venture Partner Bechtel has successfully delivered major infrastructure projects in the region since the 1990s, including motorways in Albania, Croatia, Kosovo, Türkiye, Romania and Serbia. Together, the partnership has built more than 850 kilometers of motorways including major engineering structures like tunnels, bridges and viaducts.
