Morava Corridor Motorway Project is a 112 km dual-carriageway motorway, with a design speed of 130 km/h, from Pojate and the A1 (the North-South motorway in central Serbia) through Kruševac (used to be the industrial hub of Yugoslavia) and up into Preljina in the north of Čačak. The project runs east/west in the West Morava River valley and is seen as a key enabler of the economic corridor to the industrial city of Kruševac and its ultimate international connections to Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia.
Construction of the motorway will start in early 2020 and each individual section of the motorway will be completed within 2.5 years with the total construction period of 4 years under contract terms and conditions. An extensive telecommunication network is planned along the alignment to provide a Digital Corridor for improved connectivity in the region. The Project features 10 new interchanges, significant amount of structures crossing highways, railways and challenging Morava river along the route, high embankment fills with extensive embankment scour protection works, flood protection measures and long river diversions, dykes and construction of new river bed due to the wide flood plain of West Morava River.
Project scope includes 78 bridges, 24 overpasses, 12 underpasses, over 20.0 million m3 excavation, over 17 million m3 earth fill, 490,000 m3 concrete, 1.7 million m3 subbase, 1.1 million ton asphalt and 460 km guardrail.
ENKA and its Joint Venture Partner Bechtel has successfully delivered major infrastructure projects in the region since the 1990’s, including motorways in Albania, Croatia, Kosovo, Türkiye and Romania. Together, the partnership has built more than 750-kilometres of motorways including major engineering structures like tunnels, bridges and viaducts.
To perform this important Infrastructure Project, ENKA will provide its top level engineering, production, quality, environment, health and safety standards which were gained in more than 60 years of its history.
