General Motors Assembly Plant, located in St. Petersburg’s Sushary Region, is an investment with a production capacity of 98,000 cars per year with 3 full time shifts. The plant was constructed on the industrial zone of Sushary Region on a Greenfield basis. The construction of the facility was initiated in May 2007, completed in 17 months and handed over in September 2008.
The plant in St. Petersburg produces Chevrolet Captiva SUVs and a new generation of compact cars. Production started in November of 2008. The plant operates according to General Motors’ global manufacturing system to ensure the highest levels of quality.
Every stage of the project development, design and construction took place in close collaboration with the St. Petersburg city authorities who provided support to ENKA. The initial design of the plant was carried out by General Motors engineering division but the entire detailed design was completed by ENKA.
