In September 2021, ENKA signed a contract with Arabelle Services Ltd. for the prefabrication and erection of piping systems for the conventional power islands of 2 units, where each unit will be producing 1,600 MW power. In July 2024, ENKA entered into an additional contract for the verification of design, procurement of materials, and installation of thermal insulation for both piping and equipment in the turbine hall.
The prefabrication of HP spools and supports was completed in December 2024. The prefabrication of Unit 1 IP/LP piping has reached 86% and support fabrication is 69% completed.
Erection and welding works at the site are scheduled to commence in the 2nd quarter of 2025 and the number of employees is expected to reach 400 during the peak working period.
The construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C will provide zero-carbon electricity and help secure a diverse and balanced energy supply for the United Kingdom.
