Progress of the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project in Mongolia as of the end of 2024

The Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical & Instrumentation (SMPE&I) works being carried out by ENKA for the Concentrator Conversion Construction on the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project in Mongolia are progressing steadily. By the end of 2024, the project has reached 68% completion with over 2.7 million person-hours worked on the project without any lost time incident (LTI).

The major achievements of 2024 included the commencement of the Ball Mill, one of the most critical pieces of equipment of the project, the successful completion of the July 2024 Plantwide Shutdown works, and the handover of critical water and floatation systems, which will enable increased production. Additionally, the project successfully completed 193 piping and 86 electrical tie-in connections to the existing plant units during the local isolation and plant-wide shutdowns since the beginning of the project. The project is planned to be fully completed by mid-2025 with the finalization of the Grinding Building works.
