One of the most notable projects of the Caribbean region, the Prince George Wharf expansion in Nassau, the Bahamas, aims to transform the cruise port into one of the great waterfronts of the world. Nassau Cruise Port, operated by Global Ports Holding, saw a return of transit cruise operations in July 2021, and the fully operational cruise port has seen cruise call volumes that have been robust as at the end of October 2021. Marine works on the Cruise Pier Extension will be completed in early December 2021. In parallel with ongoing marine works, the first phase of upland work continues at full speed. Following the restart to cruising in the Caribbean, Nassau Cruise Port, the busiest cruise port in the region, is pictured hosting five cruise ships at once.
As of the first week of November, the completion rate of overall marine work was approximately 80,8%. After the completion of the reclamation works at the West Marina, vibro compaction has started and almost 55% progress was made. Precast beam and panel installation work is 98% complete on Cruise Pier Extension and 34% complete on the East Marina. Existing Cruise Pier renovations have also reached to 60% completion. It is anticipated that marine works in this area will be completed by the end of December 2021. Ground improvement work is continuing at the Arrival Building site for upland works.
We congratulate our project team for achieving ENKA’s zero accident policy with a total of 596,021 person-hours to date and wish them continued success.
