The Baghdad Electrical Power Station – Besmaya Project is an EPC contract; executed solely by ENKA Insaat ve Sanayi A.S. on a “turnkey” basis, covering Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Interconnection, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning & Start up and Performance Testing of the Power Plant. The planned completion date of the project is January, 2018.
As of the end of August 2017, engineering, procurement and equipment & material delivery activities have been substantially completed. Majority of the civil works have been completed. All the tanks have been erected and commissioned. Mechanical, piping, electrical, controls systems required for Simple Cycle operation have been completed. Also all four (4) GTG Units’ commissioning, start-up and performance testing have been completed and units are now under commercial operations.
Erection works of Block – 1 has been completed substantially, STG – 1 has been taken on Turning Gear and Steam Blow operation has commenced. Block – 2 Combined Cycle equipment and system erection activities are on-going.
Total of 78,400 m³ of concrete have been placed, 10,450 tons of structural steel and 3,361 tons of storage tank plates have been erected, 1,550 tons of steel pipes have been fit-up, 72,000 wdi BOP pipe welding has been completed, 1,500,000 meters of cable has been pulled and 170,000 cable ends have been terminated so far. Overall EPC progress is around 98,5% by the end of August, 2017.
Currently, 215 staff and 1,200 manual labors are working for the Besmaya Project.
