Morava Corridor Motorway Project Progress as of June 2021

Morava Corridor Motorway project, which ENKA is undertaking with Bechtel, consists of a 112 km, 4-lane dual-carriageway motorway construction in the south of Republic of Serbia, from Pojate and up to Preljina in the north of Čačak, connecting central Serbia and Pan-European Corridors 10 and 11. The project runs east/west in the West Morava River valley and is seen as a key enabler of the economic corridor to the industrial city of Kruševac.

The motorway features 11 interchanges, 56 bridges, 29 overpasses, 28 underpasses, and extensive embankment scour protection works, flood protection measures and long river diversions, dykes and construction of new river bed due to the wide flood plain of West Morava river. Along the motorway route, the plan is to construct the telecommunication cable ducting through which optical cables will be laid. The goal of the digital corridor is to provide a fast and reliable exchange of information so as to enable safe traffic and comfortable use of the motorway.

As of June 2021, the project has ramped up in the Sector 1 and advanced works are ongoing in the Sector 3. Currently, 1,500 personnel are working for the project and approximately 2 million m³ of excavation, 200,000 m³ of fill and 20,000 m³ of concreting works have been completed.  The 1st main camp for 1,410 people is operational since February 5^th, 2021 and construction works for the 2^nd main camp for 1,000 people are planned to be started in the coming months.
